Peer Advocacy Services

Meet Alex Williams
Peer Advocate

Before I begin let me say welcome. My name is Alex Williams and I am one of the youth peer advocates here at Downtown Youth Clinic. Allow me to offer you some of my history before elaborating about my functions as a member of the Downtown Youth Clinic team.

Prior to coming to the DYC, I volunteered for AIDS Project East Bay (APEB) for about eighteen months, aiding in vast outreaches and assisting in preparations for magnet risk and harm reduction events.

As a Youth Peer Advocate I will be here to help in an assortment of things. If you are having a hard time communicating with a doctor, an advocate, a social worker, etc. I am here to make communication with your providers as clear and direct as possible, if necessary.

Someday you may just want to talk to someone and feel as if you cannot turn to your friends or family, for whatever reason, I am only seven numbers away. Let’s say sometimes you become overwhelmed in big crowds, or there’s a landmark that gives you problems that you do not want to face alone, I can be there to help you deal with your anxiety.

In short, I am here to help you with your own individual needs, in or outside of the clinic.
